tel aviv-based designer nir meiri has created 'desert storm', a lamp with shades made of moulded sand. the granular material plays on the tension between its wild nature - that of sand storms and vast desserts -
and the delicacy of the end product. when the LED bulb is lit, the grains of sand are revealed. the overall structure resembles a plant found on the mediterranean seashore, connecting the form to the origin of the material.
